The Face of an Era
Hogan returned to the WWF in late 1983 and won his first WWF Championship on Jan. 23, 1984, at Madison Square Garden, beating The Iron Sheik. That first reign lasted 1,474 days. By the time Topps released its 1985 set, Hulkamania was everywhere, from MTV to Saturday Night Live.
WrestleMania and the Silverdome
Hogan headlined the very first WrestleMania on March 31, 1985, teaming with Mr. T to beat "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. Two years later at WrestleMania III, he body-slammed André the Giant in front of 93,173 fans at the Pontiac Silverdome, a moment WWE added to its Hall of Fame as an Immortal Moment in 2026.
Six Titles, Two Rumbles, Three Hall of Fame Nods
Hogan won the WWF/WWE Championship six times and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six more. He was the first wrestler to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles, in 1990 and 1991. Sylvester Stallone inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 2, 2005, and he went in again with the nWo in 2020.
