A Monster Start to Year Four
San Antonio dropped its first two games to Oklahoma City and Houston, then won three straight. Wembanyama was a big reason why: 23 points at Dallas on Oct. 24, 29 points and 5 blocks on 14-of-21 shooting against Sacramento on Oct. 27, and 36 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in the overtime win at Utah the next night.
From Top Pick to Defensive Player of the Year
The Spurs took Wembanyama first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, and he debuted on Oct. 25, 2023. He won 2023-24 Rookie of the Year with 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks a game. Last season he added Defensive Player of the Year, All-NBA honors, his second All-Star selection, and Western Conference Finals MVP. He has led the league in blocks three times.
What to Watch
The Spurs host Minnesota on Halloween night. His career highs sit at 50 points, 23 rebounds and 10 blocks, so any night could bring a new monster line.
